Chelmsford High School Alumni Association

JEFFRY JOSEPH HEROUX
MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Established 2006

Awarding Criteria: Will be awarded to two deserving college-bound seniors who have earned a varsity letter in football

Jeffry Heroux was a 1997 graduate of Chelmsford High School who was a member of the Football Team for 4 seasons. As one of five team Captains his senior year, he was an All-Conference defensive lineman, a Lowell Sun All-Star, and the 1996 Football Team MVP, selected by Coach Bruce Rich. He was also selected to participate in the Carole Classic All- Star football game following his graduation. Jeff also participated for many seasons in both indoor and outdoor track and field. He demonstrated the qualities of hard work, commitment, and loyalty that will be required of the recipients of his scholarship through the years to come.

Jeff is being honored with a Memorial Scholarship not only because of his measurable accomplishments as an athlete but also because of his personal traits as a human being. When he passed away unexpectedly at the age of 27 in 2005, he left behind a legacy of love, warmth, and friendship that will remain with his family and dear friends forever.

When asked to provide a portrait of Jeff for this biographical sketch, some of the following ideas were shared: Jeff was a true family man. He loved his wife and parents dearly and shared a very close relationship with his entire family. He was the center of a very close-knit group of friends that he also considered to be family. An event (from high school until he passed away) remembered especially fondly was the annual trip to Foxborough to see the Patriots play. He is also remembered for his love of watching football on TV whenever and wherever he might be able.

Jeff was survived by his bride Melissa (Merrill) Heroux, to whom he was married seven short weeks before his death, his parents and sisters, and as well as by all those who thought of him as a dear friend.
