Chelmsford High School Alumni Association

SEAN MARCAURELLE
MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Established 2012

Awarding Criteria:  Will be awarded to a deserving senior who had demonstrated dedicated effort as a member of the Distributive Education Club of America

Sean Marcaurelle graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1990. Following graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served in the Marine Corps Reserves for 8 years.

While serving in the Marines, Sean attended college and graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he studied business and was an active member on the men’s rugby team. After graduating from UMASS, he spent several years working in Boston’s financial field. Sean found early success in his professional career due to his tireless work ethic and unmatched perseverance.

In addition to having a keen business mind, he was a talented builder; avid sports fan, and enjoyed fishing and SCUBA diving. Sean was also passionate about politics and never passed up an opportunity for a spirited debate. As people who knew him quickly learned, this was something else he was very good at.

Spending his childhood summers on Cape Cod exposed Sean to the beauty of living in a beach community. Although Sean enjoyed his career, he developed a plan to combine his two greatest interests; working with his hands... and the beach. Sean moved from Boston to Nantucket Island where he worked building houses and ultimately applied his business skills as a private contractor.

Sean lost his battle with cancer in 2009, and this scholarship in Sean’s name symbolizes the importance of following our dreams and always giving our best effort, no matter how difficult the task. Sean never quit, and will long be remembered as a man of honor, integrity, and the epitome of courage.
