The
concept of a Hall of Fame to honor graduates of Chelmsford
High School was first invisioned in the early 1980's by then
principal George Simonian. After approaching several people
involved with CHS for ideas concerning the development of a
Hall of Fame, one never materialized. After
the establishment of the CHSAA, the idea of a Hall of Fame
was revisited. The Association provided a perfect vehicle for
the development of the concept of an all inclusive Hall of
Fame.
The
CHSAA Hall of Fame is unique in that it honors graduates and
staff who have made significant contributions to Chelmsford
High School and/or their communities in a wide spectrum of
areas. The Hall of Fame inductees may be outstanding scholars,
leaders and/or athletes. They may have achieved great success
in their chosen careers and/or made notable contributions to
their communities. They also may be administrators, teachers
or coaches who have gone above and beyond in their dedication
to Chelmsford High School and its students.
Since
the first induction class in 1991, the Hall of Fame has grown
to include graduates from as early as 1908 to as recent as
1986. The honorees are scholars, leaders, athletes, teachers
and coaches. They have made their contributions in such varied
careers as Broadway playwrights, astrophysicists, military
officers, CEO's of Fortune 500 companies, Olympic athletes,
elected community officials, professors, bankers, physicians,
writers, inventors and environmentalists. Some inductees have
lived all over the world, while others have chosen to spend
their entire lives in Chelmsford, the town they grew up in
and came to love and serve for a lifetime.
